Federal Financial Aid Programs For Summer
All aid programs: Summer enrollment is attached as a “trailer” to the preceding award year, 2009-2010. OTC offers three summer sessions in an effort to be responsive to the needs of the student body. For the purposes of federal financial aid programs, the separate sessions are combined into one term for payment. The total summer enrollment is determined after the last term starts. Apply for federal aid for the 2009-2010 academic year at www.fafsa.ed.govPell Grant: Students may be able to receive a summer Pell grant under the following conditions:
- A student has been a part time student in either Fall 2009 or Spring 2010 and still has remaining Pell grant funds out of the 2009-2010 academic year.
- A student has received a Pell grant in Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 as a full time student and has completed at least 19 credit hours for the academic year. You must enroll in at least 6 credit hours to receive an additional Pell grant in the summer terms.
Loans and other aid programs: Loans, work-study and other aid programs are determined according to the policies in place for those programs. Students may receive aid only up to the cost of attendance for the summer classes. If a student has received the maximum loans allowed per academic year during the Fall and Spring terms, they cannot receive additional loans in the summer terms. A student must be enrolled in at least six credit hours to receive a student loan in the summer terms.
Any student receiving federal aid must be eligible according to the satisfactory academic progress standards. Transcripts will be evaluated at the end of the Spring term to determine eligibility for the summer terms.
