Child Care Orientation Training (CCOT)
The Division of Continuing Education of Ouachita Technical College provides child care workers access to training to enhance the quality and quantity of child care in Arkansas. These caregivers do not have to been employed in a center. The training is called Child Care Orientation Training (CCOT) and covers five modules of basic orientation training in two free five hours session.
The training is offered in collaboration with the Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education of the Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services and the Arkansas Department of Workforce Education.
Ms. Janet Massey (janetmassey@alltel.net) teaches the class and would be happy to talk with you concerning the training. The classes are usually held on Saturday beginning at 9 am at the CADC/Smith Building, 1735 East Sullenberger in Malvern, Arkansas.
Once you have completed your CCOT your next step is working on a CDA. The Child Development Associate (CDA) program is a national effort to credential qualified caregivers who work with children from birth to age 5 years. The Division monitors the CDA assessment process and evaluation of CDA courses. The Division currently provides scholarships to many CDA candidates throughout the state.
