Q: Is my donation tax deductible?
A: Yes, Ouachita Technical College foundation has a 501 (C) (3) status given by the Internal Revenue Service, which makes the donation tax deductible.
Q: Can I designate my gift?
A: Absolutely! Gifts can be designated to the Scholarship Endowment Fund or the Arts & Sciences, or be undesignated (unrestricted).
Q: Why should I give a multi-year pledge?
A: A multi-year pledge (five years preferred) allows a person to spread a gift out over a longer period, making the gift less costly to that person at the time of giving.
Q: Will the Foundation accept anonymous gifts?
A: Yes. We will honor your wishes. However, we do encourage you to accept the appropriate recognition because it often helps other investors to know a wide variety of individuals and organizations are committed to helping OTC through the Foundation.
Q: What form can my gift be in; cash, check, property, etc.?
A: You can make a donation of almost anything of value. Appreciated securities with unrealized gains, is a great way to donate because these donations usually qualify for a tax benefit on the appreciated value without having to pay capitol gains tax. Donations of securities, personal property, and real property, must be handled according to Foundation Board Policy. You are advised to get tax advice from a professional.
Q: Are there opportunities for named or memorial gifts?
A: Many opportunities are available for contributors to make named gifts or gifts in memory of or honor of a loved one. Click here for named gift opportunities.
Q: Will I be able to use a credit card to give a donation?
A: Yes, Ouachita Technical College is currently set up to handle credit card transactions.
Q: If I make a five-year pledge is it treated like a contract?
A: No, your pledge is viewed as a good faith commitment given your current circumstances. We know that circumstances change and that could effect the actual donations. Statistics show that over 80 percent of pledges made to churches and colleges are fulfilled.
